Shown is one of two matching 1.4 meter f/0.69 blank in its shipping container. The blank contains
six nuetral plane mounting bosses and weighs only 152 kg (26% density compared to a solid blank.)
The two mirrors when finished will be used in the Fiber-Multi-Object Spectrograph (FMOS) instrument
as part of the 8.2 meter Subaru telescope instrumentation atop Mona Kea, Hawaii. |
