Pictured above is the 1.0 m lightweight Gas-Fusion f/2 primary mirror prior to coating. The total weight of the blank prior to finishing was 182 lbs, representing 70% lightweighting vs. a 598 lbs. solid. The primary and matching secondary pictured below are part of the new Volume Imaging Lidar (VIL) telescope. Both mirrors received a protected gold coating.
